So since nothing special is happening, besides that I will go to Jogjakarta next week, i thought it to be the best to tell you about daily life. So on a normal day I will stand up at 7:30 a.m. and ready myself for work. At about 8:30 a.m. I will head out to the office and get there in some 15 minutes in a german pace. I have a little time to chat with the people around before classes begin at 9:00 a.m. The morning block goes till 12 o’clock and is followed by a 2 hours middday break with a lunch. At 2 p.m. the afternoon block starts with will last till 4:30 p.m. At around 5:00 p.m. I will be at home again. So much for the daily schedule, but I guess you are actually more interested what is happening in these two blocks. So we have several groups with different abilities of English. If they cannot yet express themselves fully in English one of the tutors with give the classes with me together, otherwise I’m alone. Besides the normal groups we also have elementary groups. While in the normal groups it’s mostly about reading and talking in English, in the elementary group we will play more games to bring English closer to them. I’ll focus on the normal groups for today. We have many books we can use with them, or we prepare texts from the internet to work with them. Normally we will start by reading the texts, followed by looking up unknown vocabulary and a translation into Bahasa Indonesia to make sure everybody understands what is happening. Then we’ll discuss the topic and finally write short texts about it. The topics are hand-choosen by the tutors and normally are connected to the YCM’s philosophy to spread it. We try to teach them the values YCM is standing for (If you want now more about, visit the YCM’s website and find out more!). But this is not the only thing we do, actually we have a lot of additional activities like the youth week at the end of this month, but that is for another time.
Da momentan nichts Besonders passiert, mal abgesehen davon, dass ich nächste Woche nach Jogjakarta gehe, dachte ich es wäre mal an der Zeit euch über meinen Alltag zu erzählen. An einem normalen Tag stehe ich gegen halb 8 Uhr auf und mache mich fertig. Um circa halb 9 werde ich dann in Richtung YCM loslaufen und mit deutschen Schritten gut 15 Minuten später dort ankommen. Ich kann dann noch ein bisschen mit den Leuten reden ehe um 9 Uhr der Unterricht beginnt. Der Morgenblock geht bis um 12 Uhr und wird gefolgt von einer zweistündigen Mittagspause mit Mittagessen. Um 14 Uhr dann beginnt der Nachmittagsblock, der bis halb 5 Uhr gehen wird. Um ungefähr 17 Uhr bin ich dann wieder Zuhause. So ist in etwa der Tagesablauf, aber ich schätze mal, dass es euch mehr interessiert, was in diesen zwei Blocken passiert. Wir haben also mehre Gruppen mit unterschiedlichen Englisch-Fähigkeiten. Wenn sie sich noch nicht in Englisch eigenständig ausdrücken können, werde ich sie mit einem weiteren Tutor zusammen unterrichten, ansonsten allein. Neben den normalen Gruppen haben wir auch Grundschulkinder-Gruppen. Während es in den normalen Gruppen hauptsächlich um in Englisch Lesen, Reden und Schreiben geht, wird mit den Grundschulkindern ein Fokus auf Spiele gelegt um ihnen Englisch näher zu bringen. Ich werde mich aber in diesem Blogeintrag mehr mit den normalen Gruppen beschäftigen. Wir haben viele Bücher, die wir zum Arbeiten benutzn können, oder wir bereiten Texte aus dem Internet vor, um mit ihnen zu arbeiten. Normalerweise wird der Text zuerst gelesen, dannach werden unbekannte Worter gesucht und anschließend wird der Text ins Indonesische übersetzt um sicher zu gehen, dass alle mitkommen. Anschließend werden wir das Thema diskutieren und abschließend kurze Texte darüber verfassen. Die Themen werden von den Tutoren ausgesucht um die Philosphie des YCM in den Köpfen er Schüler zu verbreiten. Wir versuchen ihnen beizubringen für was das YCM steht (Falls ihr mehr wissen wollt, besucht einfach die englische Seite des YCM und findet es heraus!) . Aber das ist nicht alles, was wir machen, genaugenommen haben wir eine Vielzahl von zusätzlichen Aktivitäten we der Jugendwoche am Ende dieses Monats, aber davon berichte ich ein anderes Mal.
Ya que no pasa nada especial esos días, menos que voy a Jogjakarta la proxima semana, pensaba en contarles de mi vida diaria. En un dia normal me levanto a las siete y media a prepararme y salir de la casa a las ocho y media. En unos 15 minutos estaré en el YCM caminado al estilo alemán. Entonces me quedan unos minutos a hablar con la gente antes que empiezan las clases a las nueve. El bloque de la mañana dura hasta las doce y está seguido por dos horas de recreo y almuerzo. A las dos empieza el bloque de la tarde que durará hasta las cuatro y media. Y como a las cinco estaré en casa. Es mi transcurso de día, pero creo que les interesa más que pasa en esos dos bloques. Nosotros tenemos diferentes grupos con diferentes niveles de inglés. Si aún no pueden expresarse completamente en inglés estoy dando clases junto con otro tutor, al otro caso solo. Además de los grupos normales tenemos grupos de estudiantes de primaria. Mientras que en los grupos normales el foco es en leer, hablar y escribir en inglés, con los primarios estamos jugando para acercarles el inglés. Hoy hablaré de los grupos normales. Tenemos muchos libros que podemos usar o preparamos textos del internet para trabajarles con los estudiantes. Normalmente empezamos con leer los textos, seguido por buscar el vocabulario desconocido y una traducción al indonesio para asegurarnos que todos entienden todo. Despues discutimos sobre el texto y al final escriben cortos textos sobre el tema. Los temas están cogidos por los tutores para profundizar la filosofía del YCM. Estamos intentado de enseñar los valores del YCM (si quieres saber más, visitan la pagina del YCM en inglés) . Pero no sólo hacemos esto., también tenemos mucho actividades adicionales como la semana de los jovenes al final del mes, pero les contaré de eso otra vez.
